Some people are destined to be stars. Mermaids, apparently, are among those fortunate few.

Earlier this year, I was assigned to write a story about the mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs. These are synchronized swimmers who perform underwater dressed as mermaids. Their audience, seated in a sunken theater, watches the show through giant Plexiglas windows.
