OSAKA, Japan _ The letter from the NFL inviting Masafumi Kawaguchi to join the 49ers as a goodwill ambassador remains at the Japanese linebacker's home near Osaka, tacked to a wall with a hand-scrawled "X" through it.
"You must understand, I'm a football player first, and you get a letter like that and it makes you mad," Kawaguchi said.
