Nov. 5--Decades of rancor between Odessa and Midland over the issue of economic growth were set aside Monday night as the mayors of the two cities raised their champagne glasses to toast a new era of cooperation.
The toasts of intercity economic unity, led by Odessa Mayor Larry Melton and Midland Mayor Mike Canon with about 50 other business and civic leaders looking on, followed the unveiling of a logo meant to brand the cities as one to potential outside investors.
