NEW YORK -- Even better times may be ahead for a recently recovering depilatories category.
While sales in drug stores dropped 17.3% to $71.7 million during the 52-week period ended May 16, 2004, the decline was not as deep as during the 52-week period ended on June 15, 2003. In that period volume fell 21.2% to $83.9 million, according to Information Resources Inc.
Industry sources say that the declines have been partly due to the drop in sales of items (heavily promoted in infomercials) that have higher price tags (over $19) than many other depilatories. ...
