Dec. 16--TOKYO--Saitama Gov. Kiyoshi Ueda said Tuesday his prefectural government and the Saitama city government are considering putting up a combined capital of about 1 billion yen in Saitama Resona Bank, one of the two core banking units of struggling Resona Holdings Inc.

"It would be desirable to obtain eventually 50 percent of its outstanding shares," Ueda told a news conference. He added the local business community has also offered support for Saitama Resona Bank.
