It is sometimes said by the less-restrained members of the music press that Love's 1967 album, "Forever Changes," is heaven-sent.

Arthur Lee, the singer, songwriter and studio auteur behind that masterpiece, might agree.

"A good friend of mine told me, `Love on earth must be,'" Lee says in an interview from his home in Los Angeles. "That friend's name is God. That's what he told me, literally."
