CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. _ In an outdoor ceremony shortened by heavy rain, four former astronauts were inducted into a hall of fame Saturday, including the nation's first woman in space.
Sally K. Ride, 52, blasted into space 20 years ago this month, orbiting Earth for a relatively short mission of 147 hours. She was joined in the induction by Dan Brandenstein, Robert L. "Hoot" Gibson and Story Musgrave.
Bob Crippen, who was the commander of Ride's mission, praised her during the Astronaut Hall of Fame ceremony for breaking "perhaps the world's highest ...
