The compromise plan to overhaul Los Angeles International Airport runs the risk of bogging down over a provision to move the southernmost runway 50 feet to the south to provide a centerline taxiway.
Airlines long have lobbied for a taxiway to accommodate the jumbo-sized Airbus A-380 fleet that will begin using LAX in 2006, as well as to prevent incursions--taxiing planes coming dangerously close to other aircraft, vehicles or people.
