In Part I of Immunology, Nutrition and the Athlete, we addressed the phenomenon of exercise-induced immunosuppression and discussed how immunity is affected by endurance exercise in athletes in general. This article will focus on the known effects of diet, nutritional factors, and supplements that may be utilized to offset depressed immune function in athletes.
