A method for unrestricted recognition of three-dimensional objects was developed. By unrestricted, we imply that the recognition will be done independently of object position, scale, orientation, and pose against a structured background. It does not assume any preceding segmentation or allow a reasonable degree of occlusion. The method uses a hierarchy of triplet feature invariants, which are at each level defined by a learning procedure. In the feedback learning procedure, percept...

New technique adds speed and ease. (Ohio State Univ researchers are using a computer vision sensor to speed up digitizing process for designing manufactured products)(Brief Article)
USA Today (Magazine)
; Researchers at Ohio State University. Columbus, have found a way to shorten a key process used in designing many manufactured products, from car parts to detergent bottles. In the process, called digitizing, a computer scas an object -- a clay prototype of an auto part, for example -- to obtain its

What is object-orientated software. (Software Intelligence: Teach-In).
Software World
; Object-oriented software is about objects. An object is a black box which receives and sends messages. A black box contains code (sequences of computer instructions) and data (information on which the instructions operate). Traditionally, in programming practice, code and data have been kept apart.

Vision-for-action: The effects of object property discrimination and action state on affordance compatibility effects
Psychonomic Bulletin & Review
; When a person views an object, the action the object evokes appears to be activated independently of the person's intention to act. We demonstrate two further properties of this vision-to-action process. First, it is not completely automatic, but is determined by the stimulus properties of the
