In another step forward toward the goal of producing low-cost electricity from sunlight, researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have verified a record efficiency in a solar cell made from thin-film materials. The breakthrough also represents progress in pioneering ways of bringing down the cost of manufacturing photovoltaic (PV) devices.
