Relics from Monitor, Merrimack on display in Newport News.

Silverware and other treasures recovered from the turret of the Union ironclad USS Monitor _ plus a wealth of other artifacts relating to its famous Civil War clash with the CSS Virginia (a k a Merrimack) _ are on display in an exhibition at the Mariners' Museum in Newport News, Va.
The Monitor's massive turret was recovered from the sea bottom off Cape Hatteras, N.C., in the summer of 2002 and has been undergoing an arduous restoration process. Visitors to the museum can view it in an enormous water tank behind the main building.
