Mar. 11--City Public Service will undertake a detailed analysis to determine whether the utility should make a bid to increase its ownership interest in the South Texas Project nuclear plant.

The utility's trustees gave staff the go-ahead to evaluate the transaction Wednesday after a two-hour closed-door meeting on Texas Central Co.'s proposed sale of its 25.2 percent interest in the nuclear plant near Bay City.

CPS, the city-owned gas and electric utility, currently owns 28 percent of the plant's generating capacity. Officials said it might be ...
