How do you transform a brand new space in a suburban mall into an elegant French restaurant?
Easy: You partition the space with wall-to-ceiling velvet curtains in deep blue, (red in the basement level), hang enormous mirrors from the walls to suggest the mirrors of Versailles, furnish the room with cushioned chairs in a cartoon rendition of Louis XIV style, and voila, you've got something that looks at first glance like a French restaurant.
Trouble is, the closer you look, the less French Louis XIII seems.
