LIKE everything else she did in her 36 years' service at NATIONAL REVIEW, Priscilla Buckley arranged her departure so as to cause the least possible difficulty for her comrades in arms. "Retirement in stages" is the way William Rusher described it: in 1985, at the time of NR's 30th Anniversary, Priscilla semi-retired, stepping down as Managing Editor; after giving her colleagues six years to absorb the shock, she is now pulling out of day-to-day editorial work. Her first project in seven-eighths retirement will be to produce an NR Reader.
