Robin Hood was always one of my heroes.

After all, he defied the authority of the evil King John, thwarted the nasty Sheriff of Nottingham and stole from the rich to give to the poor.

However, when I studied economics in college, I read an economic analysis of Robin Hood.

It concluded that Robin's depredations actually hurt, rather than helped, the poor.

How could that be? The analysis went something like this:
