Jun. 11--Last year, Metropolitan Trucking had little trouble finding drivers to put its 315 tractor-trailers on the road.

But this week -- even as the Paterson-based hauler offered new drivers a salary of up to $55,000 plus health benefits -- eight Metropolitan trucks stood empty, driverless.
