FRANK de Boer is still haunted by the memory of his last appearance for Holland in the European Championships.

Four years ago the Dutchman was twice given the opportunity to shoot his nation into the final of the tournament from 12 yards.

Yet twice he failed.

Since then the veteran former Rangers defender has been unable to put that summer of disappointment out of his mind.

By missing two semi-final penalties against Italy in the Amsterdam ArenA he almost single-handedly blew the Oranje's chances of facing France in the final on home soil.
