Constellation Energy wants to run its two nuclear plants at Nine Mile Point for another 20 years.

The 40-year operating license for Nine Mile 1 expires in 2009. For Nine Mile 2, it's 2026.

Constellation announced it had applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a license renewal for the two plants, extending the license expiration to 2029 for Nine Mile 1 and 2046 for Nine Mile 2.
