THIS is the first picture of the new Miss Marple. It shows Geraldine McEwan, the actress who will soon be seen playing Agatha Christie's legendary lady detective in a new TV series in a completely different light.
There is no signature hat, no tailored suit, no leather handbag nor gloves.
Instead her hair is slightly dishevelled, she wears a shapeless cardigan and her bag, an embroidered carpetbag, is decidedly more bohemian than anything the Miss Marple of her predecessor, Joan Hickson, would have clutched.
