DANCE DOESN'T usually call to mind images of spreadsheets, pie charts, and dollar signs (unless you need a new accountant), but Dance/NYC, a branch of Dance/USA, claims it's time the dance community began paying more attention to its own economic impact. And it's not too shabby, according to the recently completed, first- ever study of the economic activity of dance in the city.
At a March press conference, the advocacy organization announced the total economic impact of dance on New York was $416 million for fiscal year 2002. According to the 80-page report, "The ...
