SAN FRANCISCO _ Robb Nen's latest rehabilitation program isn't working, and the Giants are considering several options, including sending the closer home for a prolonged period to rest his ailing right shoulder.

Nen on Tuesday resumed his comeback attempt after taking 10 days off, and it was hoped he would pitch off a mound by the weekend. But Nen experienced shoulder pain playing catch each of the previous three days and on Friday he didn't throw as the medical staff evaluated the remaining options.
