An adult female bighorn sheep will be celebrating her first Mother's Day at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. Lakota gave birth to her first offspring, Stonewall a male, last spring. Stonewall, will turn 1-year-old on May 25.

Young females remain with the mother's group in the wild. However, young males depart to a group of rams between the ages of 2 and 4. In the wild, some herds of bighorn sheep can include as many as 100 individuals. The zoo's herd contains five bighorn sheep...
