Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) cultures red snapper larvae at 30-35 ppt to match conditions in the wild. However, red snapper larvae require live zooplankton cultured in 5 ppt to 20 ppt. Live zooplankton may experience salinity shock when transferred into salinities differing by 10 ppt or more.
