THE University of Santo Tomas (UST) was founded on April 28, 1611, by Msgr. Miguel de Benavidez, OP, third Archbishop of Manila, Fr. Domingo de Nieva, and Fr. Bernardo de Santa Catalina. UST is the oldest institution of higher learning in the Philippines and has the distinction of being the recipient of many illustrious titles.
