A survey of five international peer-reviewed medical journals--Lancet, BMJ, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Annals of Internal Medicine--found that the proportion of space given to articles about developing countries is low. Relatively few articles were specifically relevant to health in Eastern Europe, South/Central America, the Caribbean, North Africa or the Middle East.
