Signs of the tri-state's impending cicada invasion are starting to pop up.
In the past few days, residents have started to find tiny mud chimneys sprouting in their yards, but the region's foremost cicada expert said that's due to a week of soaking rain rather than an indication the noisy critters will be appearing earlier than expected.
