The impetus for this book grew out of the two editors' efforts to find case studies for their recent reliability book (Blischke and Murthy 2000); see the Technometrics review by Olwell (2001). The Preface indicates "26 cases by a total of 60 authors from 14 countries in North American, Europe, Asia, and Australia" (p. xxvi). Note, however, that there is a strong academic perspective to these case studies. ...
