MILAN -- Diana de Silva Cosmetiques SpA, Italy's largest prestige fragrance house, is on the verge of making a serious push into the U.S. market, primarily through the introduction next spring of fragrances by Gianfranco Ferre and Byblos.
De Silva set the stage in July when it acquired a 30 percent stake in its American distributor, Gary Farn, Ltd., of Milford, Conn. That gave the Italian firm an outpost within the U.S., and a greater degree of control than usual for its business there.
