Wang Guowei [TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII.] (1877-1927), one of the foremost twentieth-century Chinese scholars of Western aesthetics as well as Chinese archaeology, philology, and history, was the first to introduce to China the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, along with those of Schopenhauer and Kant, and initiate the comparative study of Chinese and Western aesthetics.
