European Ops Order EDFA Equipment

European cable TV operators have ordered some 200 erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, valued at $10 million, and product "is being delivered now," said a source at AT&T Bell Laboratories who asked not to be identified.

Separately, officials at Synchronous Communications confirmed that at least one customer in Europe was now getting EDFA product and transmission equipment that works at the 1550-nanometer optical wavelength.
