A former army captain who lived in the same village for nearly 70 years has left more than pounds 2 million in his will.

George Philip Anthony Thompson, formerly of Dunval Hall, Astley Abbotts, near Bridgnorth, Shropshire, passed on an estate worth pounds 2,367,203, with most of the money going to his relatives.
