CITY RECONSIDERS PLAN TO DEMOLISH HISTORIC HOME HOUSE MAY BE MOVED INSTEAD OF LEVELED.(News)

Preservationists have urged officials to spare a historic 1906 house, once owned by relatives of the city's pioneer Lopez family, that had been slated for demolition to build a senior housing complex.
City officials said they will reconsider plans to level the structure and will look at possibly moving the house. Their decision this week comes less than a month after community groups criticized the city for acting too slow to adopt an ordinance that would protect such homes.
