Three male collared peccaries at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo are closely related to pigs.
A peccary's pig-like body can weigh up to 50 pounds with a large head and snout.
Their bristled coat is usually dark gray with a whitish neck.
The collared peccary can be found in a wide variety of habitats, including the tropical rain forest, dry scrub areas, oak forests and saguaro deserts.
They are typically found near watering holes or running streams.
Peccaries are very social animals, living in groups of two to 50 individuals.
