Music-biz heavyweight Bruce Lundvall took the stage at a Minneapolis club this month to toast local newcomer Keri Noble. But first, he went on the defensive.

The Los Angeles Times, he said, had called him and asked: "Is this the next Norah Jones?"

"Absolutely not," said the veteran music man behind Jones' surprise success. "This is the first Keri Noble. There is no one else like Keri Noble."
