The "pattern of common interests" between the EU and Central Asia will be further strengthened very soon as the EU takes in new members with whom the countries of Central Asia have close historical links - Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Baltic states. Moreover, bilateral trade between the EU with ten new members and Central Asia will increase by more than 20%, and, for instance, the number of EU Member States' embassies in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, will double on May 1 as a result of enlargement.
