A testing machine malfunctioned for three years, allowing 13 Colorado emergency medical technicians and one paramedic who failed the exam to keep working, the state health department said Friday.
"The record-keeping in that division was atrocious," Douglas Benevento, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, said. "There was sloppy work, sloppy quality assurance of the machine."
Two employees responsible for running the tests have been put on administrative leave with pay pending results ...
