ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Two new studies suggest that moderate beer consumption may help prevent osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. Since there is no known cure for osteoporosis, prevention is the best medicine.

The first study, published in the February 2004 issue of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, found a striking relationship between the intake of dietary silicon and bone mineral density in the hip sites of men and pre- menopausal women. The second study, published in the March 2004 issue ...
