ENCAPSULATING the life of Dr Henry Kissinger within the covers of a book is too tricky a subject for historians this side of the pond. Kissinger had authorised Andrew Roberts but the pintsized historian abandoned the project last year.

Now I hear that Oxford University and New York University professor Niall Ferguson has risen to the challenge, only to have pulled out at the last minute.
