In an attempt to slow the spread of gypsy moths, Wisconsin agriculture officials will treat nearly 60 percent more acres this year than last year.
Despite years of vigilance -- Wisconsin is in its 15th season of protecting foliage with airplane spraying -- infestation statewide has increased and the destructive pest continues to munch its way west, threatening Minnesota and Iowa.
