SAN JOSE, Calif. _ A NASA robot has found the first unmistakable evidence that some Martian rocks were once sopping wet, creating a environment that could have supported life.
The Opportunity rover, which landed on a broad plain near the Martian equator Jan. 25, found high concentrations of salty minerals in layers of bedrock less than 10 yards from where it touched down, scientists announced Tuesday.
