Movies don't get more relevant than Gillo Pontecorvo's "The Battle of Algiers," a devastating, documentarylike account of a 1950s Muslim uprising against French forces in Algeria.

The 1965 film, which has been restruck and equipped with improved subtitles, was recently screened at the

Pentagon. What anyone there learned from it has not been announced.
