On May 16, 2003, the Drinking Water Protection Act, S.B.C. 2001, c. 9 came into force in British Columbia. This new piece of legislation provides a detailed and comprehensive framework for drinking water protection. The Act addresses threats to drinking water at various stages from source to tap through a variety of mechanisms that are intended to enhance oversight and accountability. (1)
