The dream of the thin client has been with us for almost a decade, but few major organizations have risked a shift out of PC-based, 'fat clients' for fear of leaving their employees with systems that can't offer the same facilities as the modern PC.

But the surging half billion dollar-plus revenues of Citrix suggest that there are at least some major corporations that are prepared to shift the client processing burden onto servers and thin out the function on PCs.
