CHAMPIONSHIP fever embraced Mullingar in the depths of winter as Meath put the finishing touches to their pre-season preparations with a seventh O'Byrne Cup title yesterday.
A capacity crowd of 14,500 at the midlands venue forced a 10 minute throw in delay but it was worth the wait as a thrilling and keenly contested tie was played out.
It's still only January and officially the GAA's off season but if this is a taster of what's around the corner then we're in for a feast of football.
