As the state Supreme Court decides whether hunting mourning doves is legal in Wisconsin, another state agency reported Wednesday that hunter surveys indicate 202,000 of the birds were killed in last fall's inaugural season.
"Hunter participation was just about what we predicted," said Keith Warnke, a game bird ecologist with the Department of Natural Resources.
