The Canadian premiere of Baldassare Galuppi's Il Filosofo di Campagna (The Garden) to a text by Carlo Goldoni took place at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre on 30 September (seen October 4), produced by Vancouver's Modern Baroque Opera. The work, dating from 1754 and one of several created by the pair, is not entirely unknown: Ernnano Wolf-Ferrari adapted it for 20th-century productions, and it was recorded under the aegis of Renato Fasano.
