Despite his status as one of Britain's best-loved and most accomplished actors, Albert Finney isn't one to stand on his dignity. Take his account of the moment when he realised that he was a star. 'It was after I had made Tom Jones. I went around the world by myself - I just wanted to travel - and I was in Hawaii.

'So I went into a chemist and said very quietly, "Have you got anything for lice?"
