MANKATO, MINN. -- Robbie Earl knows he made a mistake and readily admits he alone turned on the burner to create the hot water swirling around him.
Earl, the freshman left winger for the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team, knows he should have let someone in authority know his return from holiday break last week would be delayed. He should have called from his home in California and alerted the powers that be that some unexpected family issues had come up and he would have to miss two mandatory practices.
