Links cut our ferry out of the loop.(News)

We are not surprised to learn the Shields ferry service is planned to be cut back due to poor passenger numbers (The Journal, December 22), since the requisite bus access at North Shields has been withdrawn.

The access to the landing at South Shields has always been difficult, too.

The buses which served the ferry at North Shields have been replaced by a new service, the 333, which gives free access between the Ferry Landing and the Town Centre, as well as paid-for journeys to Royal Quays and the Fish Quay.
